Full-Day Ethiopian Cuisine & Culture Experience

Meet your guide at your hotel and get an overview of the day. Your journey begins with a short drive to one of Addis Ababa’s iconic neighborhoods known for its food culture.

Visit a vibrant local market (like Shola or Merkato) to explore the spices, grains, and produce that form the backbone of Ethiopian cuisine. Your guide will introduce you to ingredients like berbere, mitmita, teff, and more.

Experience: Meet spice vendors, learn how locals shop, and taste seasonal fruits.

Head to a traditional home or community kitchen where you’ll join local women to learn the art of injera making—the spongy flatbread that’s a staple of Ethiopian meals. Try your hand at pouring and flipping injera over the traditional clay plate (mitad).

Includes: Light refreshments and stories about food customs in Ethiopian households.

Enjoy a full-course traditional Ethiopian lunch served on a large platter, including a variety of wot (stews), tibs (sautéed meats), lentils, vegetables, and freshly made injera. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

Setting: Eat in a traditional restaurant with cultural décor and live folk music (if available).
