Bale Mountains
Home to Ethiopia’s largest alpine plateau, the Bale Mountains National Park is a sanctuary of biodiversity and natural splendor. Towering peaks, vast moorlands, lush forests, and alpine meadows create a landscape that feels more like the Scottish Highlands than the Horn of Africa.
This unique ecosystem is home to some of Ethiopia’s rarest and most iconic wildlife, including the Ethiopian wolf the world’s rarest canid, found only here. You’ll also encounter mountain nyala, giant mole rats, and over 280 species of birds, making it a paradise for nature lovers, hikers, and birdwatchers.
